New T58 Polymer Microtan® Capacitor Series Has the Industry's Highest Capacitance Density
April 19, 2016 - The T58 vPolyTan™ Solid Tantalum SMT Capacitors, one of Vishay's Super 12 Featured Products of 2016, are now shipping from New Yorker Electronics. Vishay Sprague T58 vPolyTan™ Solid Tantalum SMT Capacitors are lead-frameless molded polymer type capacitors with low ESR. The T58 vPolyTan™ series is available in eight case codes including 0603 and 0805 footprints and due to its construction features, the Vishay lead-frameless package offers higher capacitance density.
The T58 Tantalum Capacitors deliver higher capacitance over rival SMT capacitors. At up to 47µF, 6.3V for 0603 case size, it is the industries highest capacitance density.
Another feature is its volumetric efficiency – the T58 Series offers a 10% improvement in space utilization over competing facedown or undertab technology. At a height of 0.9mm and a 0805 case size, it is the smallest and lowest profile polymer tantalum capacitor in the industry. This allows for reduced end product design sizes. It also features best-in-class ESR with 200 mΩ (0603 case size).
The T58 Series Capacitors, available now for shipping from New Yorker Electronics, are useful in power conversion and distribution, decoupling and filtering in space-constrained applications. These applications would include smartphones, tablets, eReaders, ultra-thin laptops and wearable technology such as smartwatches, POS systems and personal GPS. Decoupling and bypass capacitors are used in audio amplifiers and pre-amplifiers.
